  • 1970, Program title changed from Engineering Operations to Building Construction to Construction Engineering. ISU Chapter of Sigma Lambda Chi, Construction honor society was established.
  • 1970, Cy-Ride is born, as the first buses transport students from Towers and University Village to central campus.
  • 1971, Town Engineering Building was completed.
  • 1972, Tau Beta Pi, an engineering honor society, allows women to join as full-fledged members.
  • 1973, The Dedication of the George R. Town Engineering Building.
  • 1976, The construction engineering curriculum was awarded accreditation in the fall of 1976 by the Engineer’s Council for Professional Development (ECPD). The ECPD was renamed in 1980 as the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).
