Degree Requirements

Beginning your journey in engineering should be exciting! That’s why we’ve created a distinct learning experience for our undergraduate students here at ISU CCEE.

Iowa State University’s bachelor of science (B.S.) degrees in civil engineering and construction engineering prepare students for entry in the field or further study at the graduate level. The civil engineering program and the construction engineering program are accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET.

We have distinct majors that undergraduates may follow as well as several options within those majors: the Civil Engineering Program allows students to choose between the general track and the environmental track, and the Construction Engineering Program allows students to choose between the building emphasis, heavy/highway emphasis, mechanical emphasis, or electrical emphasis. Below you will find forms and information organized by these majors and sorted into cohorts. A cohort is the year in which a student is accepted to and starts classes at Iowa State University. Once you become an Iowa State University engineering student, your cohort requirements follow you to graduation. We encourage all of our students to visit with an academic advisor to discuss requirements further.
