Jing Dong, Assistant Professor, CCEE
The Iowa Department of Transportation requests research assistance in obtaining basic calibration factors for simulation of traffic conditions in urban freeway settings. This project will collect, analyze, and provide specific Iowa-based calibration factors for use in micro-simulation within an urban freeway merge/diverge environment. These factors will enable a higher level of fidelity in modeling traffic behavior and will serve to improve decision making in balancing need with investment. These results will serve to benefit not only the Iowa DOT, but also local agencies, and the practicing engineering community.
