Iowa State/Lanzhou Parternship

CCEE Department Welcomes Students from Lanzhou, China

The Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering welcomed 15 students from Lanzhou Jiaotong University in the People’s Republic of China’s Gansu Province, to campus in June 2007. The CCEE department hosted a picnic for the students. (View pictures from this event at right.) Nine other students from Lanzhou have been on campus since last year.

Iowa State University’s Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering and Lanzhou Jiatong University established a partnership in 2001 to create a dual-degree program in civil engineering. Since then, the CCEE department has enrolled Chinese students, engaged Iowa State faculty with education and research opportunities in China, and involved Iowa State engineering students in gaining a global perspective.

Students in the program complete the first two years of the curriculum at Lanzhou Jiatong University. They finish their final two years at Iowa State University. Once they’ve successfully completed the programs, they receive a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from both universities.
