A Pilot Study to Investigate the Use of Aggregate Screenings in Roadway Construction

Research Objective: Martin Marietta is planning to build a new quarry access road near Cedar Rapids. This provides an excellent opportunity to conduct the proposed pilot testing and research, which will include material analsysi, design procedures, construction operations, and evaluatio of test sections of new flexible pavement supported by 2 to 3 different aggregate screening materials as the base. Test sections will consist of untreated and treated screenings and be evaluated for performance over a five year period.
