End Date: 03/31/2009
Research Objective: Educate and train MnDOT staff and contractors on how to most effectively use intelligent compaction. Provide both MnDOT and contractors with the tools necessary to fully implement intelligent compaction. Verify that the current intelligent compaction specifications can be used on a wide range of materials and site conditions. Advance the implementation of intelligent compaction for use on non-granular materials. Refine the current intelligent compaction specifications based on lessons learned from additional intelligent compaction implementation. Develop methods to help MnDOT obtain, process, and archive intelligent compaction data from the rollers. Develop the link between mechanistic empirical pavement design and construction QA/QC.
