Construction Industry Trends Blog

The Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering Department at Iowa State University is pleased to sponsor this Construction Industry Trends (CIT) Blog.  Under the direction of Dr. Edward J. Jaskelskis, Ph.D., P.E. and with maintenance by Timothy C. Becker, P.E., this innovative blog will offer a unique, on-line forum through which participants can share their thoughts on construction industry trends.   The returned value to participants will be access to insights contributed by others.

The CIT Blog will transfer ideas utilizing today’s most current communication technology – a web-based blog.  Speed of sharing information is particularly important when studying trends, as daily changes in the global economy or recent technology developments can rapidly impact existing trends or cause new ones.  Periodically, the CIT Blog will be reviewed and a summary of the submitted ideas will be posted.

The CIT Blog will ask participants to suggest specific trends emerging in the industry and to comment on whether certain trends are growing, stabilized or declining.  Also, bloggers will be requested to categorize trends as “bubble trends” that will burst in the short-term or “step-wise trends” causing long-term sustained implications to the future of the construction industry.

The ideas obtained from CIT Blog could serve as a resource for corporate planning processes.  Additionally, CIT Blog may assist universities in maintaining the relevancy of their curriculum in response to industry trends.

Please join us in this dialogue among construction professionals and academics.  We are energized by this opportunity to exchange your creative and innovative ideas regarding construction industry trends.  Welcome to CIT Blog!
