Full Time Job and Calendar!!!

I forgot to mention a few other BIG news I've had over the past 2 weeks.

First -

I have decided to take a full-time job with Turner Construction in Kansas City!  I am VERY excited for this opportunity as it presents many areas for growth and leadership within the company.  Turner is one of the Nation's leading contractors world-wide.  Their Kansas City office serves Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska and Iowa with projects ranging from Offices to Stadiums to Water Parks to Healthcare.  Within the Kansas City office there are about 80 employees.  I will start out as a Project Engineer and will most likely be located on a jobsite with more details to come as my starting date gets closer.

Kansas City will provide a great opportunity in the social atmosphere as well.  Similar to Milwaukee (where I grew up), there are suburbs all around it, driving through traffic is easy (for the most part), public transportation is easy to use, they are in the works of rebuilding their downtown and there are lots of festivals, outdoor activities AND a warmer climate! I found out about a month ago or so that I was selected for the Women Impacting ISU Calendar for 2009.  This is a newer calendar on campus that is sponsored by the Catt Associates, part of the Catt Center for Women and Politics. Catt Associates is an interdisciplinary student organization that seeks to raise civic awareness and encourage women’s leadership. The calendar features twelve women from campus whose leadership, administration, teaching, research, and service have made an impact on the university.  I happened to be nominated by two professors in the ConE department along with some past and current Alumni Association staff members that I have worked with in SALC.  Here's a link if you're interested in reading more on the Women in Engineering on the calendar: http://www.engineering.iastate.edu/news/news-article/article/2255/5828.html
