Back to School
Well it's back to school!! Two weeks have just flown by - where did the summer go? It seems like only yesterday I was heading out to my internship in San Diego with Ryan Companies US, Inc. It feels so good to be back in Ames. There's just something about being here that makes me happy! I love the campus, the people, seeing old friends and all of the activities going on - there's ALWAYS something to do!
This year I'm back to my apartment I was at 2 years ago...let me tell you - if you ever live off campus and are a ConE, CE or design student, living just West of campus is heaven - 5-10 minute walk depending where you're coming from.
This semester I am taking one of the senior design classes for construction engineering (hard bid), structures, a graduate class focused on design build techniques, english 302 - business communication and economics 102 - macroeconomics. The first three classes are keeping me more busy that I ever thought after only Two weeks. On top of the classes, I am helping coordinate the construction engineering learning community and serving as vice president for the organization called Student Alumni Leadership Council.
Tonight we had our first ConE Girls Night Out. It's one activity that is recently new to the females in construction engineering. At the beginning of each semester we all (or as many as are able) get together at a Professors house and socialize - meet the new and/or old girls in the program - and have some dinner FREE!! It's a blast. Then we'll try to get together a couple times per semester.
Other than that football season is well underway...they Cyclones are 2-0!!! Big game next week in Iowa City vs the University of Iowa. I'll be going with my boyfriend. Should be a good time, thought tons of homework and projects to get done before that....it'll be long nights in Town Engineering (the home to the CCEE department) with little sleep. The nice thing about at least three of my classes is I will actually use some of the knowledge I gain and experiences in the future.
Well this is probably enough for the first entry....BEAT IOWA!!!!
