CCEE Advisor

It is always busy for most of the students and especially our advisor Ted before the semester gets start. My thinking is that could we have one more advisor to help or advisor assistant.

Ted works very hard since I can receive emails from him at midnight informing us that the structure class has been successfully added. His busy also shows up on “waiting lines” outside Ted’s office. Every day before the semesters, lots of people come to look for Ted working on their schedules. Even though our advisor has spend tons of his time on work, some of people’s problem still could not get solved and they keep worry until semester start. Assume that we have five hundred students in CCEE department; most of them need to talk the advisor at least twice before or end of the semester. We can find that two hundred and fifty hours needed if each one spends thirty minutes with the advisor. We split it into half since some of students did their schedule ready before they left for hometown right after the last semester finishes. And if Ted continuous work six hours, he need more than twenty days to work on our schedule. It is not reasoning since most of the student came back to school only one week before the semester. So it happens that some people come from one's dorm by bus and has to get back just because there were already too many students waiting on line. It’s sad, isn’t it?  Our advisor only needs to suggest our class schedule, but also need to hear our voice of future plan so that we can give us the best recommendation. So it really takes long on talking with some students.

As a student in our department, I hope our department become better and better. I am really hoping that we don’t need to worry about our class schedule just because come back from home a little bit late.
