First Waldo W. Wegner Professorship Awarded
In 1991, Iowa State University basketball legend and civil engineering alumnus Waldo Wegner (BSCE 1935) and his wife, Katie, committed a large gift to Iowa State University to fund a professorship in civil engineering, a scholarship in the College of Family and Consumer Sciences (now the College of Human Sciences), and a men’s basketball scholarship. The endowed professorship is now becoming a reality as David White, associate professor in geotechnical engineering, becomes the inaugural recipient of the Waldo W. Wegner Professorship in Civil Engineering.
“I’m honored to be selected as the first recipient of this professorship,” says White. “My goal is to use this professorship as a catalyst for inspiring undergraduate students to become more engaged in experimental research.”
White will serve in this professorship for three years.
