CCEE Student Successes

The CCEE department congratulates the following undergraduate and graduate students on their accomplishments:

Deanna Davis, graduate student, won the James Hoover Memorial Scholarship for academic excellence for graduate students in civil engineering with a geotechnical emphasis.

Graduate students Justin Doornik, Jae Ho Ho, Samantha Hockerman, Sunghwan Kim, and Mary Rasmussen each have won the university Research Excellence Award for outstanding research accomplishments.

Josh Hochstein, graduate student, was named the Student of the Year by the Midwest Transportation Consortium.

Cole Landau, graduate student, received the Construction Engineering Fellowship in recognition of academic excellence in the Construction Engineering program.

Brett Larsen and Nicolaus McCready, both graduate students, each received a Terracon Engineering Fellowship. The Terracon Engineering Fellowship is awarded annually to a master’s degree student majoring in civil engineering with an emphasis in the geo-technical/materials/geo-environmental engineering program.

Cory McDermott, senior in construction engineering, received the Associated General Contractors of America Iowa State student chapter’s Outstanding Member of the Year Award.

The following eight junior and senior civil and construction engineering students received scholarships from the Iowa County Engineers Association (ICEA): Trent Barnes, Matt Bauer, Adam Clemons, Jordan Denman, Andrew Goodall, Matt Ludwig, Adam Miller, and Ben Vierling. The ICEA scholarships are awarded to students at Iowa State University, the University of Iowa, and three Iowa community colleges. This year, the ICEA gave 10 total scholarships to Iowa State and University of Iowa students. At Iowa State, each recipient receives $500 from the ICEA. The College of Engineering then matches the scholarship amount, for a total award of $1,000 per student.
