ASCE Steel Bridge Team Earns Spot in National Competition

The Iowa State University American Society of Civil Engineers’ (ASCE) Steel Bridge Team won second place overall last weekend in the regional Steel Bridge contest in Iowa City, Iowa. The team competed with universities around the Midwest and Canada to receive this honor. Additionally, the team received first place in the aesthetics category.

The team’s second place finish has earned it a spot in the national Steel Bridge competition May 23-24 at the University of Florida. This is the first time since 2005 that the Iowa State Steel Bridge team has gone to the national competition.

The Iowa State Steel Bridge Team is entirely student-led and the bridge is designed and built entirely by the students themselves. The team includes these civil engineering students:
