Seminar, Sept. 10: Careers and Opportunities in the HVAC Industry

Students, faculty, and staff are invited to attend the following seminar sponsored by the College of Engineering, ASHRAE, and the Mechanical Contractors Association:

Seminar title: The Future Direction, Possibilities, and Opportunities for Engineering and Business Students within the HVAC Industry

Speaker: John Conover, president of Trane Americas

Date: Monday, September 10

Time: 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. (reception to follow)

Location: 1227 Hoover Hall

Speaker bio: John W. Conover IV is the president of Trane in the Americas located in Piscataway, New Jersey. In this role, Conover is responsible for growing the sales and distribution of Trane’s commercial heating, ventilation and air conditioning products, systems, services, and solutions in the Western Hemisphere. Conover has played an integral role in developing voice of the customer strategies and developing and introducing account management into the organization. He was named to this position in 2005 after serving for three years as vice president of Americas sales and distribution.

Conover has been with Trane since 1979 in a variety of roles of increasing responsibility in Detroit, Columbus and Cincinnati. His roles as sales engineer, building automation manager, sales manager, and district manager have provided innovative insights into the sales process and what it takes to acquire, satisfy and retain customers.

He earned a bachelor’s of science in civil engineering from Lehigh University and is a registered professional engineer.
