New Faces in CCEE, Fall 2005

James E. Alleman is the new chair of the CCEE Department. An engineering faculty member at Purdue University since 1982, Alleman is widely known for his research in wastewater treatment. He is the author of nearly 60 refereed publications and has been awarded more than $6 million in research grants.

Alleman received his bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees from the University of Notre Dame. He spent the fall semester teaching and doing research in Greece as a Fulbright Scholar.

Amr Kandil is a new assistant professor in construction engineering. He received his PhD in 2005 from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. His research interests focus on the development of robust IT based decision support systems for sustainable development and maintenance of civil and building infrastructures.
 
R. Christopher Williams is an associate professor in geotechnical/materials engineering. He received his PhD from Purdue University. Williams began his academic career at Michigan Technological University in 1999. His teaching and research interests are in asphalt materials, with an emphasis on design, performance, and construction specifications.

Judy Johnson coordinates alumni events and is the secretary to the chair.

Ertan Arslanska is a visiting faculty member in environmental engineering.

Fatma Ilter Aydinol is a visiting assistant professor in environmental engineering. Her PhD is from Yildiz Technical University in Turkey.

Kasthurirangan Gopalakrishnan is a post-doctoral research associate in geotechnical engineering. His PhD is from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
