James M. Hoover Memorial Scholarship

Scholarship amount: $1500/year

Yearly eligibility period: January 1–December 31

Application deadline: February 14

Nominee Qualifications

Nominee must be a U.S. citizen who has been admitted to the Geotechnical Emphasis Graduate Program during the scholarship period.

Application

Application forms made available to qualified students through the CCEE main office (394 Town) beginning January 30.

Appications must include the following:

  • a one-page application by the student including brief biography and financial need statement
  • a one-page letter by the student descibing what the award would personally mean to them
  • copy of undergraduate transcript
  • three letters of reference

Applications must be submitted to Assistant Professor David White, 476 Town, by February 14.

Award Process

The awardee will be determined by the CCEE Awards Committee and one member of the geotechnical faculty.

The successful nominee will be notified of the scholarship by April 1.

The scholarship will be presented to the student at the CE banquet and awards ceremony in May.

Award Recognition

The student will receive the following:

  • A framed certificate stating the title of the scholarship and the student’s name, signed by the Department Chair.
  • A check in the amount of $1500.00

A "James M. Hoover Memorial Scholarship" plague will be prepared for display in the CCEE main office with the awardee's name added to the plaque each year.
