Office Space

Office space will be provided for teaching and research assistants. The department will try to find space for others when possible. Requests for office space should be made through your major professor or division leader.

Also contact the faculty (above) prior to and upon arrival to discuss when to report for work if you have an assistantship.

Important Deadlines

If you're just getting started, some of these may seem too far down the road to even begin thinking about, but it's always good to start planning now.

First Year

  1. Advisory committee form* (end of first semester but earlier is better)
  2. Program of Study (POS)* (second semester but earlier is better)

Second Year

  1. Proposal (six months before graduation)
  2. Diploma slip (first week of last semester)
  3. Request for final examination (three weeks before defense)
  4. Copy of thesis/creative component to POS committee (two weeks before defense)
  5. Defense (date set by Grad College about four weeks before graduation)
  6. Submit thesis to Grad College (about three weeks before graduation)

* Note: Students who do not submit forms on time may lose graduate tuition assistance (see below).
